DJ/Promoter/Producer/percussionists and former owner of record store Choice Vinyl in Greesnboro NC, His monthly gig “Lounge”, in Greensboro NC, now in it’s 13th year, is the longest running monthly in the southeast and is a staple for NC house heads which attracts regulars like Rick Preston, John Howard, JT Donaldson, Alexander East, Q-Burns and Spettro who all made it a point to include “Lounge” on their international travels because of it’s true dedication to the quality of sound provided. Dedication to not only impeccable song selection, but a perfectly EQ’d, fluid mix, which always leaves those on the floor satisfied.
Jay’s sound is diverse and deep, but always ready to get the dance floor moving. From Deep, funky, chunky house, to midtempo funk, brokenbeat, electro soul and all points in between. Alway in the mix, working the eq for seemless transitions and taking the beats upward and onward, he is the quintessential dj’s dj…
His record store Choice Vinyl opened in August of 2001, and along with partners Mike C and Masonic Templeton Staton, they brought not only choice music to the people of Greensboro via vinyl (when it was still viable) but also in the events that they produced and promoted, but always with an emphasis on quality music…. as the moto said it was, music for the soul.. Unfortunately Choice Vinyl fell victim to the same circumstances that practically every other record store in America experienced… The Digital Revolution… unconvinced the pushed on… thankfully…
Now a current resident of Charlotte NC, holds a current residency at SOUL Gastrolounge as well as L’OUNGE in Greensboro and can be heard DJ’ing at various venues throughout the city.
Look out for upcoming original house music relesases and mixtapes, as well as new music from his other projects, El Banditos (live dance/house) and AARC Inc. (psychedelic electro prog rock) which will be forthcoming in 2010.
